HP ENVY TouchSmart 17
If there's one thing you need to understand about laptops, it's this: Portability will cost you. Want proof? Look no further than the HP Envy TouchSmart 17 (MSRP $999.99), a fully-loaded desktop replacement that costs less than an entry level MacBook Air.
This big guy comes with a smattering of excellent specs, including a quad-core Intel i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 1TB of hard drive space, a CD/DVD drive, a full-HD touchscreen, and even a fingerprint scanner.
The XPS 15 combines jaw-dropping resolution and vibrant color in a large 15.6" touch display. Its crisp, sharp detail and rich color is perfect for editing photos and graphic design. Stunning brightness and wide viewing angles make it easy to share your display.
Bright view from any angle: At 400-nit, the brilliantly bright display is easy to see indoors or out. The 160-degree wide viewing angle makes it easy to share your display for both productivity and play.
The Aspire E1-470P certainly looks the part of a budget laptop: The notebook sports an unremarkable glossy black plastic exterior that easily picks up fingerprint smudges, with a silver Acer logo on the right side of the lid serving as the sole flourish.
Though the touchpad is slightly off-center, the deck provides plenty of room for both wrists, and the gently rounded edges ensure a comfortable typing experience. Moreover, we appreciated that Acer chose to place the power button at the top left corner of the deck rather than on the side of the notebook, as the company has done in the past.
